Located in and around local townships, state forests and farmland. This project is sited on a generous sloped allotment facing the Mornington Peninsula. The brief calls for a small beach house to replace an existing 60s dwelling. Situated on an elevated site, the house adopts horizontal windows and a wider footprint to allow an unobstructed panoramic of the coastline.
The project is built up of two gable forms, an internal vaulted ceiling is expressed with an exposed laminated timber structure. As the site drops five metres, an additional lower level is cut and retained below with formed concrete, allowing services and bedrooms below to be partly concealed underground to maintain the building's modest footprint.
